The place

Eight villas and the whole jungle around them

The clothing optional pool, the gardens, the villas, and everything within a few kilometres.

The heart of it

The clothing optional pool

This is the hotel's centre of gravity. A long, shallow pool that winds between the villas, with palapa shade and loungers along the edge.

Clothing is genuinely optional here: some people swim fully nude, some sunbathe topless, some prefer a swimsuit. All of it coexists without anybody saying a word, which is exactly the point.

The water stays warm all year. At night it is lit, and the sound of the jungle becomes louder than anything else.

Common areas

What we share

Clothing optional pool

Open all day, lit at night. The meeting point of the hotel.

Loungers and lounge

Shade and rest beside the water, with a palapa and planting all around.

Gardens and jungle

Paths between heliconias, palms and chit. Spider monkeys visit often.

Shared kitchen

Fully equipped and open to every guest. This is one area where we do ask for clothing.

Experiences

What there is to do at Ahal

You can do absolutely nothing — a very defensible choice — or use Ahal as a base for the Riviera Maya without the crowds.

01

Private dinners

A table for two among the plants, the jungle behind you and nobody else around. Arranged in advance.

02

Cenote trips

There are free cenotes you can reach on foot or by bike from the hotel, and others well worth visiting with a guide.

03

Holistic massage

Sessions in the garden or in your villa. Also sound therapy with Tibetan singing bowls inside a cenote.

04

Small retreats

The whole hotel can be booked for a retreat. Eight villas make for an intimate group and nothing more.

05

Full day trips

Cozumel, the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, Chichén Itzá, Cobá and Punta Laguna. We help you coordinate them.

06

Spider monkey sanctuary

A short drive away. Although the monkeys often save themselves the trip and come to the villas instead.

House rules

Four rules and no more

There are few because few are enough. Everything else rests on them.

Clothing is optional, never required

Across every common area you can be fully nude, topless or dressed. The exceptions are the dining area and shared kitchen, where we ask for clothing on hygiene grounds, and the car park, which opens onto the public road.

Consent and respect, always

Non-negotiable. Nobody touches, approaches or insists without permission. A no ends the conversation, and needs no explanation.

Photos only with permission

You can photograph the place freely. Other people, only with their explicit consent. It is the rule that allows everyone to be at ease.

Adults only, no impromptu parties

No minors stay here. During an ordinary stay there are no parties or stag and hen celebrations either: this is a place to rest, and the quiet is part of what you came for.

Private events are a different matter. The whole venue can be booked for celebrations, intimate weddings, gatherings and retreats, with dates arranged in advance: plan your event.
